Scam Warning - Cryptex

Bytnex is a ponzi scheme

This page summarizes common claims made by Cryptex and its associates, it exposes the contradictions and lies and false information found on the internet.

Contracts are for suckers Promotion is for scammers

Key facts

The reality may look pessimistic when you are in a state of excitement. Whenever you're ready, get to know the facts below.

Bitcoin staking isn't a thing

Cryptex promoters claim (during Zoom meetings) the main source of profits comes from transactions on the bitcoin blockchain. Bitcoin is proof-of-work, not proof-of-stake. There is no staking of bitcoins.

The claim was later changed to "staking is done on the Ethereum chain for WBTC" - WBTC still can't be staked and the volume is miniscule.

The payment proofs aren't real

Screenshots congratulating the user are something they sent themselves. The blockchain transactions they point to aren't even connected to them or prove any of their claims. Don't fall for bogus evidence.

There is an analysis of bitcoin deposits which shows hundreds of BTC flowing in.

It is a pyramid scheme

There is no bank, no insurer, no real staking, no real profit supporting payouts. Revenue comes from selling contracts exclusively. The network pushes rapid growth: recruit more people to buy more contracts—hallmark ponzi/pyramid mechanics. The top promoter has done other ponzi schemes in the past. The writing is on the wall. Don't ignore the red flags.

Cryptex claim it "can't be a pyramid scheme" because over $100 is paid out immediately. This is false, see how they lie.

You can know for certain

What they claim is provably false. Their business is bogus and can't possibly make money. Cryptex and its promoters claim that there is no guarantee of any profits, especially not your original payment of $100 (or its multiples). You do not have an investment with them. You paid for a job that they consider rendered. There is zero chance that you will get your "contract" paid in full or in part.

Look outside your MLM bubble for opinions. Anybody reputable in the bitcoin community will tell you after a glance that this can't work and it's definitely a scam.

How they lie

Direct responses to the most common talking points used to promote cryptex.to.

"They pay out over $100 immediately"

The claim goes, for every $100 contract purchase, Cryptex give out over $100 in rewards to members on the not-a-pyramid MLM chain. The way they get these numbers is: they include future promises of payments and assume 20 levels. The reality is: the direct promoter gets 30%, the next in line only gets a 5% cut and it goes down until level 10. And most of their sales come from promoters they hired to be at the top. So in general, they pay out $50 or less per contract to those who knowingly or unwittingly help grow the network. The rest of the money taken from the gullible is all profit.

You can definitely make money by promoting Cryptex. It's a roundabout way of scamming people where you share the responsibility and share (most of) the profits also.

"It's worth a try, the payoff is big!"

One marketing tactic used by promoters is to liken Cryptex to a lottery ticket. A lottery ticket costs way less than $100, pays way more than $30k or even $150k, and the chances that Cryptex will pay out any more than the contracts of top leaders - zero. You may say that $100 is nothing, but let's be real. You likely spent $300 or more, and you could have bought Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, you could have put it on black at a provably fair casino, and so on. These would all be much more profitable, more fun and more real. Cryptex are scamming you. Don't let yourself get brainwashed.

Cryptex isn't the new Bitcoin. It's not a maybe. It's not an if. This is just a lousy scam piggy backing off Bitcoin's popularity.

"You get $10,000 to prove it's a scam"

You really don't. It's something one of the German top promoters probably said during a Zoom meeting. Any time you ask for specifics, they tell you to Google it. Naturally, it is futile to try to prove to the scammer's satisfaction that they are scamming. The top leaders must be quite aware already.

You get $100,000 to prove it's real.

"You do not risk your own money"

$100 can buy a good bit of crypto that actually has a chance of doubling or tripling in value. As opposed to a Cryptex "contract" which is an expensive lesson in scams.

Some people have boughts dozens of "contracts". They trust the payout so much, they took out loans and invested tens of thousands of dollars. But remember, Cryptex say it's not an investment. No guarantees.

"It has been paying out since 2016"

Reality: they had a sketch of a ponzi marketing text they put online back in 2016 that hasn't taken off. According to the web archive, the actual Cryptex offer first came online in 2022. And the backend (where you can register and log in) has not been seen by the web archive until after late 2022. At best, the first real "contracts" were bought at the end of 2022.

Promoters make the excuse that the offer has changed during the years but this doesn't mean anything. Before it was trading bots making the profits, then suddenly it became about bitcoin staking.

"You do not have to promote it"

Promoting Cryptex is the only way to make money through it. The contracts are for the losers who believe in a long term fairy tale. Direct affiliate fees are paid quickly. But even promoters keep more on the platform than they should and will lose their ability to withdraw when Cryptex eventually collapses.

With some ponzi schemes, getting in early results in being paid out early and making an overall profit. Cryptex is different. The promoters are the wolves of the game. The people buying contracts are the sheep. Those who do both - they're confused.

Contradictions

They contradict themselves and each other all the time.

Staking: Top leaders of different countries disagreed on what is being staked. Some believed it is bitcoin, others believe it is altcoins. The latest version of the story is that WBTC is being staked on the Ethereum chain.
Anonymity: Cryptex claim to have a good standing with at least one big bank and insurance company. At the same time they claim they are decentralized and anonymous. So are they claiming the bank is giving an anonymous customer big loans, or are they claiming that they're well known B2B but hide the company's information from clients only?
Business premise: Cryptex claim the $100 is only to reward onboarding new people, the loans and profits are unrelated to this payment. If staking was real and paid this much, they would not need to onboard people just to give away most of their profits to them. A person buying a $100 "contract" doesn't add value. If they really had a goose that laid golden eggs, they would be selling golden eggs. Not the goose.
German payouts: In 2024, Hungarian promoters claimed German people have already got their contracts paid. In 2025, they're telling Hungarians to watch for the first German payouts.
MNB listing: The Hungarian National Bank has issued a warning against Cryptex. They used this warning on their website to self-promote. They told their gullible followers that being listed on the mnb.hu website is a testament to their legitimacy.

Top promoters

Some people are proud to have dozens, hundreds or even thousands of people "under them" in this pyramid scheme. Let's take a look at them. This list isn't meant to be complete by any means, it's just to give you an idea who is selling these "contracts".

Mario Emmrich

Mario Emmrich claimed he's only heard of Cryptex at the end of March 2022 from an unnamed supporter. But he's had a Cryptex logo on his page emmrich.me in January already. He's boasted over 50k referrals at one point. They say he used to live in Dubai but currently lives in Thailand.

Sztaneff Erzsébet

Erzsébet Sztaneff a.k.a. Lisa used to sell revitalizing products in an MLM structure and used to make videos coaching people about marketing and having wealth. In Hungary, she has done an impressive number of hours on stream talking to people, organizing zoom meetings and coaching people to resell the "contracts".

Szabó István

István Szabó has Youtube courses on how to build wealth with Cryptex. He has regular Google meetings where he educates Hungarians on selling Cryptex contracts and building websites.

Szilágyi György

György Szilágyi is another helper of Lisa who promotes Cryptex in Hungary. He has made long speeches about the benefits of Cryptex and is ready to educate new promoters.

Impact

Cryptex say you can only lose $100 which is nothing. They say do not invest more than you can lose. But they target those who want to break out of the cycle and make lots of money quickly to pay off their debts and upgrade their sad lives.

We can see from the Zoom meeting webcams that it's the middle to low income most affected.
People take out loans in hope of the future payoff.
People get their friends, relatives and coworkers to join the scheme.
In the end, the promoters will tell you that they were victims too and you shouldn't have invested to much.
Families will break apart, people will commit suicide over losing their investment and the shame.
The promoters will fire up their network and start all over again, discussing how great the next promising project is about to become.
